Yes they definitely can get jealous. You need to try to give them all equal attention and treats so that their jealousy doesn't create bad or aggressive behaviour.

YES!!! Just like an older sibling reacts to a new adorable baby coming home, is how an older pet feels when a new one is brought in. After they get used to each other, things will go back to normal. Just be careful not to give attention just to the new cat though other wise you are giving them good reason to be jealous. Be sure to give them all equal attention, or they might act up, in bad ways to get your attention. Give them attention together too. While you are petting the new cat, bring the old cat up on your other leg, and pet them both together. Do similar things for dogs that become jealous.

My friend got a new kitten and her 3 year old cat, every time she left the house, would go in her closet, yank down her sweaters and pee on them. Also used to beat the kitten up whenever she was being petted. OH, definitely jealous!!!!

yeah they do! Some pets make friends, some are aggresive, and some jealous. It all depends on character and personality (sometimes, though rarely breed or size). you don't have to worry that much! They will get along and learn to live together. If more problems accure, ask your vet or if the problem's with your dog alone, consult a trainer or a vet as well.

My chihuahua gets jealous when I play with the terrier or cat. But they never cause each other harm. Just remember that though they aren't kittens or puppies anymore, they still need a little love. Esp. dogs.

It is vary typical for pets to get jealous. my shih tzu gets so over whelmed when I bring home a boyfriend that he ether trys and gets in between him and I or gos off sulking. my other two dogs wont even let you pet the other unless they are both being loved one. yet I have to tell you you should never accept this behavior for one of your pets could harm the new kitten if they feel they are being neglected, if you let there temper tantrums and sulking go on. for example if they are trying to get inbetwen you and your new baby bundle of paws. Yet find time in your day to have a quit time with each pet so they get equal lovings.

Yea they are. When we got a new puppy our older dog (never peed on the floor) peed right in front of the TV when we were watching her. She did it to get attention. So make sure to give the other two attention.
