Yes they are the same dates:
(Anno Domini (A.D.) means "Year of our Lord" and Common Era (C.E.) starts on the same year, but without the religious connection.

The terms A.D. and C.E. are the same. A.D. is an abbreviation for the Latin Anno (as in annual=year) Domini (as in dominion or Lordship) that is to say "In the Year of our Lord" (Jesus Christ)
C.E. stands for "Common Era" which stands for the same era but is typically used by authors that are disgruntle towards Christ and Christianity.

Yes. AD mean anno domini, or "year of our lord." So people who find that too religious use CE for "common era." I've also heard it referenced as "Christian era," but I think "common" is the official definition.

Yes; non-Christians were offended that the number system revolved around Jesus, so the numbers stayed but the meaning of them was changed.

Yes. Non-Christans didn't like it so they had to make it "Unoffensive". I don't really care as long as they don't revlot or something. Not really as long as we can get along. We already have to many wars.
