Kittens love all the bright decorations on Christmas trees don't they - lovely balls to play with!
I suggest you visit a garden shop. They usually have little fence type garden edgings. You could buy enough to put up a little fence (too high/difficult for the kittens to climb over) around the tree. Otherwise you'll just have to try to keep them out of the room or find some other toys to distract them.

I was wondering about this myself as we have 2 - 11 month old kittens. Baby gates and garden edging are going to be worthless.
I can't spray the tree with ammonia, as it's terrible for the bird, kittens and people to breathe.
My plan is to go find a fresh Christmas tree that has extremely densely packed branches, and put non-breakable ornaments on it. I'll probably spring for the LED lights this year too. If they behave properly (which they won't), I'll try to put a few glass balls on there.

I used to have this subject, and that i've got 2 cats so it became into two times the difficulty. What you're able to do is purchase a sprig-bottle (it must be noted as a misting bottle or some thing comparable), fill it with water, and whenever you notice the cat hiking the tree, spray the cat with the water... i anticipate that your cat, like maximum cats, would not like being moist, so finally it is going to study that with the aid of hiking, it is going to grow to be moist and uncomfortable. needless to say, change off your christmas tree lights in the previous you do this :p You noted as additionally decrease off the decrease branches of the tree so the cat won't manage to climb. If it relatively is the decorations your cat is fascinated in, go away some baubles (no longer glass ones...) mendacity on the floor so the cat can play with them. If all else fails, guard the tree greater efficient so it won't manage to fall over and purely enable the cat do what it needs...

Go to stores where they sell Christmas trees. Look at the different ways they are decorated. There are ways to decorate a tree so that there isn't anything there for the cats to play with. Trees don't necessarily have to have dangling ornaments to look pretty.
To keep them from climbing it, put it in a deep bucket and wrap some chicken wire around the bucket. Bend it out under the lower branches and they won't be able to get a foot hold to climb the tree.

LOL..Both of my cats are 15yrs old, I've had both of them since they were kittens, I've tried everything, but they still terrorize my christmas tree. But of course it wouldn't be a normal christmas in my house if the tree didn't fall at least 10 times before christmas morning.

unless they are really hruting it, let them play!!! haha my cat jumped on the christmas tree today but the lights are not on it yet so it was ok! If your kittens are still small though and can not jump high let them play around the bottom of it, they will not be able to climb too high

Oh first Christmas!? Well then what I have found to work is spraying dog conditioner or what ALWAYS works is to go to Walmart or where ever and buy a few child gates to go in the door jams to block them out. Don't get mad or discouraged they're just little!

Clove. Powdered or whole clove pressed into orange peel. Sprinkle the powder under the tree and over the branches. Whole clove pressed into orange peel can be placed on the branches or under the tree. Besides the cats not liking the scent it smells very festive!!
