I see it all the time, people treating teenagers and youth differently than adults. In the stores, employees passing by youth and only asking adults if they need help, etc. How do you think we can stop this?

See you people are being discriminant, are you saying that every youth is bad and doesn't treat people with respect?

Well, I have the same problem, only backwards.
You want to be mature, act mature. Don't let it bother you. People are rude, we all know that.
I know that young people treat senior citizens like they don't know anything and they have already been where you are, which is the reason they keep quiet.
Treat people like you want to be treated. You could always cut in on the conversation and say, "I can help you with that if I may." I am sure they would be pleased with that response.
Thanks for the question.

I have seen this happen also. I was once at McDonalds and a young boy had been standing there quietly waiting to order and people coming in the door were waited on before him. I walked to the counter and ask the lady why she was not waiting on him as he had been there forever. She looked startled and immediately waited on him. I know some of our youth are rowdy but there's really no excuse for anyone ignoring someone in a store just because he's a teenager or young person.

It is the same in reverse. Why do young people treat older people ( emphasis on "older") like they don't exist. Or worse, like they don't matter any more or are old and stupid. I have been in stores where the young sales clerks ignore an elderly person to help someone younger and more attractive. I am no where near that old, but I am older, and I have experienced this treatment myself, and have seen senior people treated this way as well. I have also seen young people who were considerate. You will never stop this, as there are always going to be ignorant, poor mannered people no matter what age.

Old people and young people don't get along. They have different ideas. If young people weren't rebels society could not go forward and grow. It is the old persons loss. Youth is beauty. I am old. I think it is too bad that youth is wasted on the young.

There is an old saying: children should be seen and not heard. In other words children should be learning not participating. The real age discrimination occuring today is against old farts like me.
Don't worry about age discrimination as a teenager. Before you know it you'll be an adult and trying to ignore young people yourself.

Stop the employee and ask them for help with what you need.
