The whole purpose is that they make your teeth straight so you can have a normal and healthy bite again. There are no really bad impacts, only some problems related to comfort. You need to have a good oral hygiene because food remains can get left in some areas that are now harder to reach for your toothbrush. There is also some pain (taking pills will ease this) and a very big discomfort due to the fact that you can no longer eat what you want. Also you are not allow to chew bubble gum or eat caramels because they can suck out the cement used in binding the rings.

The younger you are, the faster you teeth realign so it will really be worth the trouble.

okay when you first get braces they hurt like hell, and each time you get them tightened, {or at least i do}, for the next two days, i live off of soft foods, and tylonnel, but, of course the results are fantastic, while you are having braces, listen to your orthodontic, he will tell you what and what not to eat, follow it, i have so many friends who have had their braquets replaced many times, because of not following the rules;i have not ever had to have a braquet replaced unless of course my orthodontics says you should get some new braquets so they dont look bad: but anyway, besides the tightening, it really doesnt hurt, except sometimes, the braces rub against your mouth, and it irrataes the mouth, i dont use wax which is te best because it makes my mouth tough and ready, so i can survive without the wax, plus the wax grosses me out...

First, the pain for the first few days after the braces are put on, is extensive, but bearable w ibuprofin & such. Eating a donut was painful.

Second, eating broccoli is a b**** because all of the little thingies get stuck in the brackets.

Third, you must clean, clean, clean!

around your age, do you already know the way a lot of people have braces? a lot! do no longer complication, they gained't make you seem extraordinary. I had braces from i became into 12 or 13 till i became into 15 or sixteen. once I had them got rid of my tooth moved lower back (specific it relatively is achievable, placed on your retainer as quickly as you have your braces taken off and it won't happen - i became into stupid and lazy, do no longer save on with my occasion). besides, my stupidity resulted in me getting braces lower back, while i became into 17 (so a ways as I submit to in innovations) think of I wore them for some twelve months. ingredient of my tale being: once I first have been given braces I attended one college. while i became into 14 (i think of) I replaced colleges. New college previous braces. once I have been given braces the 2d time around i became into in extreme college. there have been one or 2 teenagers different than for me who had braces. no one cared. do no longer sweat it. In some twelve months or 2 you have gotten suitable tooth. it relatively is -so- well worth it!

Damage to the insides of the mouth - scraping on the skin and soreness. General dental health - depending on how 'wiry' they are they are very difficult to clean and the 'cuff' sections on the back teeth totally cover parts of the tooth making cleaning difficult. It's a lot of hassle for the wearer and takes a long time to have any discernible effect.

I've had braces...the shitty things i remember the tearing of the insides of my cheeks.. from rubbing when I'm sleeping.. and how sore they are for 2-3 days after every appointment. Otherwise... They weren't too bad.

The bad things about braces are....
Getting ulcers on the insides of your lips ( ouch ).
Having them tightened once a month ( ouch ).
Not being able to bite into an apple.
Getting teased by other kids.

your teeth get yellower because it makes it harder to brush inbetween the rackets. and its expensive most of the time and if you dont wear your retainers afterwords, then you just waisted a whole bunch of money because your teeth will get all messed up again.
