Get more sleep at night, it makes a difference. When the teacher is talking practice concentrating on what he or she says -- I mean, that's obvious -- but what I mean is, try to find one thing of real interest in what they are saying and really try to follow it. The Chinese say if you want to remember something say it three times to yourself. So if the teacher makes a main point, say it to yourself silently three times and then follow how they develop that idea, even if you're not that interested. One of the most gratifying things I ever learned as an undergrad was to make something interesting which I initially found dull -- it was worthwhile and rewarding.

As a college graduate with a Master's degree, I can tell you everyone is distracted at times; especially sitting in a class one considers boring.
My best advice to you is to think about the fact that you are going to be tested on the material you are given so you better pay attention if you want to make a passing grade and graduate.
Personally, I have fallen asleep in quite a few classes, missed crucial notes, and performed below average on tests. Unfortunately, these "below average" performances rear their ugly heads on my transcript. "Ugly heads" do not illuminate intelligence or performance to a prospective employer.

I have had the same problem in the past. I solve it by sitting right up front. That way, I'm not distracted by students sitting in front of me, my eyes are on the teacher, and it's way too obvious if I doze off.
I also force myself to interact. Answer questions. Ask questions.
Also, figure out what time of day you're most awake. Are you a morning person? A night person? And try to arrange your classes according to this.

ugh. i know that feeling. anyway try not to eat anything sugary beforehand or the "sugar" high will wear off and you'll be left feeling groggy. Otherwise get a semi-good nights sleep. Try to take powernaps (10-15) mins if you can between a class or what-not. Try to take notes, even if you don't have to.. it will keep you awake. Bring a cell phone and play a game(unless you'll get in trouble) well goodluck!

One thing that keeps me awake while driving, might work for class as well. I suck on a hard candy like a lemon drop or those peppermint candies like they give out at Pizza Hut.
