It depends on how thin you are already. If you are a fashion model, and you can see every muscle in your stomach, and your ribs and other bones, then even 5 pounds will make a difference.

If you are really huge, a difference of 50 or even 100 pounds might not be noticeable, unless you knew what you were looking for.

For most people, 5-10 pounds is enough to make their tight jeans really tight, and really fit people may notice a softness in their arms, waistline, or legs. In my experience, you can see weight gain in tight jeans and shirts before a bikini, because the extra weight sticks out over a belt more in jeans than a swimsuit, where there isn't a belt to tighten around the waist.

Depending on your body, 10 pounds is usually a difference that other people might notice if they see you everyday (or haven't seen you in a while), unless you are wearing really baggy clothes.

It also depends on whether you are losing weight or gaining. Gained weight usually starts at the hips, thighs, and boobs (at least some good comes of it) for women, so a gain of 10-15 pounds might not be noticed right away. If you lose weight, though, it tends to go from the top down. Starts with your face, and then upper body and legs and hips last. That's pretty noticeable because people tend to look at your face more than your body (whatever you might think they are checking out).

It depends on the current size of the person. If a smaller person loses 5 lbs, it may be noticed...but then a larger person may need to lose 20-30 lbs before it becomes noticable.

It all depends. If you see someone everyday then it may take them a while to notice. Rapid weight loss compared to gradual weight loss also plays a roll. Also, your starting height/weight will make a difference in a person's attention to weight loss.
