well i have a 1988 toyota corolla gts and i always put michelin mx4 energy and they handle great on ice and rain but the best i am not sure i can only tell u from experience

any winter tire will provide better traction than the all seasonal tires you have. if price is not a concern there is the Nokian tires (which are classified as an all season). i have michelin x-ice on my matrix and i am very happy with them.
note: i do recommend getting separate rims for winter tires.

Michelin x ice mud and snow tire are great snow tire. I have the same car and with these tires I make it places most cars can not. Not to bad on the wallet either.
