You can give buffered or baby aspirin but you should discuss this with your vet so you will know how much to give.

Imagine for a moment your arthritis completely vanishing right now.

If, in a moment, your pain and stiffness melted away. And your joints all of a sudden functioned like a well-oiled machine.

Like a magic wand was waived, you'd be able to jump up from your chair and run around the room like a kid.

And imagine that you'd never have to suffer as much as a pinch of arthritis stiffness or pain ever again.

I know this sounds impossible right now, but bear with me, because sometimes miracles happen.

It was a gift from a woman on the other side of the world. From the kindness of her heart, she took pity on my suffering and taught me how to completely reverse my arthritis.

Today, I want to do the same for you!

No no no no no no no no no. Please don't. Some dogs have diseases where they cannot tolerate even low doses of aspirin (von Willdabrants sp?). Even if not aspirin and aleve should not be given to dogs. Some vets will allows a chewable children's aspirin but there are much better medications for arthritis for dogs. See the vet and try glucosamine.

I don't think that Alleve is safe at all. You can give low dose aspirin to dogs BUT not for any longer than 2-3 days at a time. If given for too long, it can cause damage to the cartilage in their joints.
Your vet can prescribe something for arthritis. I work for a vet and he usually prescribes Rimadyl. Previcox and Metacam are other alternatives. There are also supplements that you can give and special diets like J/M (Joint Management, Purina).
If you haven't already, schedule an appointment with your vet so he/she can examine your dog & go over the options with you. At the very least, call your vet before giving anything to your pet for pain relief.

Can You Give Dogs Aleve

I do know that aspirin has been OK'd for dogs for arthritis. But, you have to give it to the dog in the correct dosage or it won't do any good with the pain or will make the dog sick. Before you give your dog anything, call your vet and ask their advice. I would not give him Aleve, I do not know if naproxsyn has been OK'd for use in dogs. Call the vet.

My vet told me we could give a children's asprin a day to help with the pain of arthritis my 12 yr old American Eskimo suffers occasionally.

BUT you need to contact your vet to make sure it's okay for your dog and what dosage, in relation to the size of your dog, would be appropriate. Please don't administer anything without consulting the vet first.

A baby aspirin, perhaps occasionally, if it's a good sized dog. Don't give him Alleve, and NEVER give him ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, etc.), or (even worse) acetominaphen (Tylenol, etc.). Aspirin isn't really great for a dog, but it does help sometimes in small doses (baby aspirin). Alleve and Advil are toxic to dogs. Tylenol, while it simply DOESN'T WORK for humans, can be LETHAL, even in small doses to dogs.
Oh, and a vet will NEVER say it's okay to give a dog aspirin... they'll try to talk you into overpriced stuff like Rimadyl, which has it's own side-effects problems.
