My dog died this summer and he was a big part of my life.
I understand your hurt.
I takes a while to get over the hurt and the pain of it goes away slowly. If the dog was a big big part of your life than it is surprising how long you feel bad about it. It still makes me sad when I think of the final days but when I think of his wonderful life with us as a family I smile. I can tell you I cried for 2 solid days but I dealt with it better after two days and made a little picture gallery of him and feel better everytime I look at it.

Sorry to hear this. My old guy (14 years) passed away, and I was devastated. Three recommendations...
1) Drink heavily for a couple of days. It's my solution for just about everything.
2) Pick up a copy of "For Every Dog, an Angel", by Christine Davis. It's a beautiful little book that, even though it'll bring tears to your eyes, it'll also bring a smile to your face.
3) Get another dog!! You can't stay sad when you've got another doggie looking you in the face, it's not possible. Best of luck, I know how you feel.

First off all sorry about the loss of your dog. I don't think you can really get over the lost of a loved pet, it'll just easier over time. Just try to think of all the good times you had with them and know that their in a better place now.

there is no easy way to get over your dog dying. You need to give it time, and that will ease the pain and sorrow that you are feeling now. You will always feel a sadness fall over you in the future when his/her name is mentioned, or you see a picture. That will never go away. Just give it some time and things will get better. sorry about your loss.

You can't get over it if you loved your dog; it will get better and at times you will miss him like crazy; time makes all things easier to think about and remember; you are posting her , obviously you loved your dog and your dog knows it. The best to you and all the happy memories that your dog gave you.

Time when my lab maggie died I could not sleep for months, she followed me everywhere I went and it was so hard not having her there in a way I felt she was my soul mate.We love them so much there like children to us. Try to stay busy doing something out of routine. It has been 1yr 1/2 since I lost maggie and I still cry when I think of her. I dont think we ever get over it, we just learn to make peace with it.I am very sorry, I know the pain you are feeling. I think god has a special place for them he makes them so human like. I think there is a place were god has them wait so we can rejoin our special friends. You are in my thoughts and prayers. May you find peace.

You never get over the loss of a pet. They are a member of your family. When mine passed I went back to the breeder and got another one. Different color and totally different personality. I had my Igor cremated and have his ashes in an ern. That way he will never be forgotten. Every loss takes time to recover from.
Good luck in your quest to do so.

Trust me I know. I have to deal with 5 dogs deaths. What i did is I kept pictures of him and I focused on other important things in my life and try not to think about him. Also try getting another dog!

Thanks and good luck! Btw sorry about your loss

You don't get over it, it's like losing a member of your family. The only thing you can do is go through your grieving process. Know that he is in a better place and looking down on you.

judy is right...get a new dog...a new puppy...however, even though a new puppy can help get over a 15 year old friend/pet...it wont replace ur pet....but it can certainly help the grief...now, u have the wonderful job of raising a new dog...beautiful...try not to grieve too hard....we will grieve enough over human loss
