I personally didn't buy a book, I bought a 3 ring binder, divider, a whole lot of paper and a hole punch and created my own.

Dividers:
General, Ceremony, Reception, Budget, Guest List, Honeymoon

Then I added sub-dividers: Churches/sites, Attire, Reception halls, Cater, DJ ... ect.

Everything fit into that pretty much, I looked everything up I needed to know on the net (the knot, weddings.com ect) As things became more definate the "old" stuff got removed, and only the new stuff stayed. This has been so helpful to have my own personalized wedding binder !!

OK so I have been planning my wedding forever it seems and to be quite honest they all can offer you something different HOWEVER, you do not need to spend money to get a quality wedding planning guide/info.

If you have a JCPenney's in your area- just go sign up for their wedding registry. All you have to do is throw 15 items on it, go to the catalog desk and they give you this HUGE binder filled with wedding stuff. It is everything you will need to help to plan your wedding. It even has a 3 hole punch and a calculator and individual pockets for your information. and a HUGE notepad for notes.

I also made my own in a binder and made separate categories.

Otherwise the only other one that comes to mind is Fire your Wedding planner by Stephi Stewart. At least that has a money back guarantee if you dont save $$.

Don't buy any! Use common sense! Only you know what you want. If you wanna save money, dont' buy anything with the words wedding or bridal in it! The industry is made to take advantage of you! I did everything on my own and saved a fortune. My friend oficiated our wedding instead of hiring someone...saved $300-$500 on that alone. Have it in a public park or building. Cheaper than hotels/resorts. Or someone's house! Pool your friends for resources! I had a friend who volunteered at a museum, so I got my reception room for free. Don't go crazy on the dress. You have to have it altered, cleaned, then cleaned and boxed again! It's a rip-off! Get a dress you like, but don't get the name brand. Look for sales or have one made for you by a seamstress! Instead of the big wedding cake, get one small cake for your little bride and groom figures and then cupcakes for everyone else! That's really hot right now! Get your friends and family to take photos and video of the event. Know someone who DJ's or is in a band?! Feel free to email me for more.

Research, its all in the research! Wedding planners are EXCELLENT! (and I'm not just saying that cause I am a wedding planner). I used a wedding planner for my wedding, & they handle every aspect that is needed to be handle! You choose what you need them for & they help, simple as that!

They are all good. Basically, you just need to stay organized. I wrote everything down in a notebook and had it with me at all times! The planning books are helpful for letting you know what to do when - this needs to be done 12 months before, 6 months before, 3 months before, ect.
