Why spend all the money on a honey glazed ham when you can do it yourself? It is so easy!
Buy a "Cooks" shank portion ham and the bag that you cook a turkey in (Reynolds makes them)
Open up a can of pineapple rings and toothpick them to the top of the ham. Insert whole cloves here and there along the top as well.
Take the pineapple juice from the can and add honey, a bit of brown mustard and brown sugar to make a paste.
Put the ham in the bag (per the instructions) and pour the glaze over the top of the ham.
Close the bag and let it cook at 325.
It is the best ham you will ever have and so easy to make. The ham will be very moist being cooked in the bag, no mess in your pan for easy clean up and you will impress your in-laws.
Good Luck!

Baked ham is so easy my 13 year old grand daughter did it for Thanksgiving. All she had to do was be able to read and follow directions. It was delicious. You'll do fine.

Most grocery stores will have spiral cut hams in the meat case. Most of those hams come with a fairly good glaze and you are not going to stand in line At HBH store for 45 minutes to get it. It will also be less expensive, if that matters to you. If you can't find one wioth a glaze here is my recipe.
For a 10 - 12 lb ham.

Whole cloves
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup honey
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tbl orange juice
(check your package instrucions on the ham for more accurate baking times.)
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Place ham, fat side up, on rack in roasting pan. Insert meat thermometer in thickest part. Bake uncovered,2 hours. With sharp knife, remove skin, if any; then score fat into 1 inch diamonds; stud each with a clove. Combine honey, sugar, mustard, and orange juice in 1-quart saucepan. Over medium heat bring to a boil while stiring. Brush half of honey glaze over ham; bake 30 minutes. Brush with rest of glaze; bake 30 minutes until golden and thermometer reads 130 degrees. Let stand 15 to 20 minutes before carving.

Ugh! Don't buy a ham, they are pricey and overly salty! Try this recipe, we use it when making ham at home.

Orange Honey Glazed Ham

Ingredients:

1-3- to 3-1/2-pound fully cooked boneless ham
1/3 cup orange juice
3 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon mustard
1/3 cup chicken broth
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 cup orange marmalade

Directions:

Make diagonal cuts about 1/4-inch deep and 1-inch apart on the top of ham. Place ham on rack in shallow baking pan.

Insert a meat thermometer in the center of the thickest portion of meat. Bake, uncovered, in 325º oven 1 to 1-1/2 hours or till thermometer registers 135º.

Remove the ham from the oven, cover with foil and let stand 15 minutes. The temperature will rise to 140º upon standing. Before roasting you can also pierce surface with whole cloves for extra flavour.

Meanwhile, combine 2 tablespoons of the orange juice, the honey, and mustard. Bring to boiling, remove from heat.

After ham has baked 1-1/4 hours, brush with half the glaze. Mix the remaining orange juice, chicken broth and cornstarch. Stir into remaining glaze.

Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir 2 minutes more. Stir in marmalade, heat through. Pass with sliced ham.

go buy a spiral sliced ham at sams club or costco, somewhere like that. They usually come with the honey glaze packet. You just heat the ham at 225 degrees F for 20 minutes per pound. Then make the glaze and finish heating the ham per packet instructions. I always turn my ham over in the glaze several times to make sure the glaze is all over.

I hope this has helped you!!!!

You can make your own ham,and it will be great.Go to the store and buy a butt potion of ham,do not buy the shank it has a bone in it and the butt portion has no bone and all meat.If you don,t know which is which ask the butcher or who ever is working in the meat dept...bring it home and unwrap it,there is usually a small round piece of plastic in the ham remove that.Rinse your ham good and cover the entire ham with lots of brown sugar, lay out enough foil to wrap your ham in,put your ham with all the brown suger on the foil ,then put sliced pineapplw all over the top.wrap it in your foil .put it in a baking pan.bake it in 300 degrees for 3-4 hours, and it will be great.. you will do just fine.and yes you could go out and buy a ham but you will be so proud of yourself if you make your own.....as far as name brnd Hormel is good but the store brands are also good...good luck

Don't freak darlin! And if you go to honey baked it is always a good idea to kick it up a notch as emeril would say......keep on hand a mix of sprite and pineapple juice...inject the ham with it before it goes in and every 30 minutes inject it with that and only "warm" your ham for about 2 hours on "warm".

Good luck

You don't want to cook for the first time when having company. Try it now and then a second time when they come. That way you can practice. Use ham, pineapple, brown sugar and you can't go wrong, unless the guest is diabetic or vegetarian like me. Grrrrrrrrr.
