I don't do confession to humans. I heard a preacher say one time " tell a rabbit your sins then kill the rabbit ,so it couldn't tell on you."
Felt that was pretty smart, you know God did cause a donkey to talk.;0)
What I have to confess is only for Gods ears.

If you confess to a priest, and not those who you have wronged, you haven't completely atoned for your wrong.

True morality requires that you do what you can to make right what you have damaged by your action or inaction.

The Bible says, "confess your sins one to another that you may be healed." We are forgiven when we confess to God but we are not healed. Sin harms us. If I have a trustworthy Christian or Christians I can go to and I confess something and there response is love and forgiveness it helps me to believe that God who I cannot see can forgive me. Then I am able to forgive myself and that is the healing. That's how it works for me.

YEAH who knows. But the only way to the Father is through the Son. Pray in Christs name God will hear you and forgive you. You do not need a preist!!

Because Jesus didn't give them the authority to forgive sins. He gave that authority to the Apostles, who have passed it down to priests.
