I'm a seafood lover, but seafood can get really expensive. in a couple months, i'm gonna be cooking for myself, and i'd like to know - what are the cheapest kinds of fish and other seafood? I still want something that tastes good, but something i can afford on minimum wage and trying to pay through college.

It's expensive to catch fish and fly them away from the ocean, which is what you must do if you want fresh ocean fish. So if you don't want to do that, you can buy:

Frozen fish (I like salmon, which can be around $1.50 a pound)
Canned tuna or salmon (ok for fish salads, maybe with a hot pasta dish like tuna casserole, and have you ever put broccoli in tuna casserole? MMMMMM)
Locally farmed fresh ocean fish, like tilapia (I can get those for around $1.30 a pound)
Locally farmed Salmon (around $5 or $6 a pound)
There's also a place near me that sells salted and smoked, but still kinda raw, salmon trimmings for around $6 a pound, I like those on toast.

Tilapia

If you want to catch your own though that is the cheapest way to go. A fishing liscence here in Ohio costs 19 bucks.

Probably Talapia. I'll buy a bag of individually frozen fillets at Sams Club. You get about 20 fillets for around 8 bucks.

In the frozen section, there are blocks of white fish... Cod or other mild fish. They are frozen in a block of ice. That is pretty inexpensive.

Catfish is cheap, too.

Whiting. Most grocerys have them in the frozen section for under $4.00 per lb.
