I don't know what they sell at the PX and don't want to ship things over there that he can easily get on base. Most of the articles on-line that I've read are not from 2006 and I think the conditions on base are much improved. He's at Ali AB, if that helps. Thx.

Necessarily depending on exactly where it is, good things to send include books, magazines (porn is not allowed), they can get toileties over there but specific favorites may not be accessible, they have a gym but if he's into working out and health GNC protein stuff and what not are good, it's winter now so blankets and pajama pants will be good, as well candies, I sent my husband some christmas smelling candles for the season, as well as pens and paper (if he ever wants to write, haha!) Where my husband is at, they have internet. So, perhaps find out if they have internet and if he doesn't already of some items like a webcam, those are only $30 and with the different messengers out there video calls are possible! The list goes on and on, but knowing the particular soldier is somewhat key.
(p.s. If you're thinking of sending a phone card, DO NOT WASTE your money on just .10$ a min cards, calling from Iraq requires special phone cards. AT&T provides the Global Card, look it up on the website.)

Baby wipes, boot insoles, drink mixes like kool-aid and gatorade, FHM and Maxim magazines, beef jerky, a few hometown newspapers, socks, a "civilian" t-shirt. It gets sickening wearing the same issued stuff day in and day out. That's about all I can think of. Don't worry about sending things he can get at the PX because it's always great to get things in a care package no matter what it is.

I am an Army soldier, I have not been deployed yet but I know a lot of people that have been I would suggest the following: His favorite non-perishible snacks (jerkey, candy, etc), un-usual fun things like squirt guns, a pinata, things like that. These soldiers are bored out there, they want things to play with. Just be careful things can freeze on the way too. Maybe try and stash a small bottle of liquor ;)

Bliss makes a HUGE soap bar that is for guys, it's got an exfoliating ingrediant and is called the Big Blue Bar, I think. Put in Bliss products on Amazon and you'll see it. My son is in the army and LOVES IT!

Powdered drink mixes, any food item that would be considered a treat here would definitely be a treat over there! Hard candy, etc.

Wet-wipes, socks, cigars, letters from old friends and strangers alike, jerky, DVD's, hometown newspapers, phone cards, flavored sunflower seeds, body spray (Axe, Tag, Bod..), wire brushes (hard to find here, good for cleaning weapons), any good soap he likes. That's just a lot of stuff we like to find in our packages. Best of luck to him. Hopefully I never see him.

depending upon were they are, i would definetly send frosted pop tarts, it sounds stupid but, my dad is there right know and unfrosted strawberry poptarts are about all they get for breakfast. Also, i would send something that they could easily use to work out there legs, my dad doesnt get to run that often and they really dont have gyms over there.

Batteries, movies, beef jerky, snacks, powdered Gatorade, toiletries, magazines ( no nudie mags, they can get in trouble for that),......I am running out of ideas.

To tell u the truth I am also a soldier. It doesn't matter wut u send over there to him everything matters as long as its from home. The best thing to send him in Iraq is your hopes and prayers that he makes it back in one piece.

Candy, magazines, snack food, anything that doesn't melt, and has something to do with what is going on now.
