I havent worked out in 2 weeks due to many reasons, a big one was me havin a fever. Anyway, i just got back into the gym on Saturday, and got sore on my legs, biceps, and triceps. Today i worked out even tho i was still sore because i work out every 2 days and i didnt wanna mess up the routine. Should i stop until my sorness goes away completely and work out again or work out with the soreness? Can anyone tell me if its good or bad? I am very determined to get to my goal, so if resting for max muscle growth is needed, i will do so.

lets reduce ourselves to the size of a muscle cell and see what happens.when a weight is lifted beyond the force of gravity for repititions the muscle cell contracts burning oxygen and releasing lactic acid.this then results in the cell tearing, the bodys immune system responds by removing the dammaged cell then replaces the cell with a larger stronger cell.you feel the lactic acid build up as a dull ache in concert with a "pump".the soreness you feel is the result of the micro-tears in the muscle.now hears the trick, you can't build a house with out supplies so if your nutrition is inadequate your body builds the damaged muscle slower than the usual 48-72 hr time frame of rest.when you workout when you are sick, your body has to sacrifice some of your immune system for waste removal of muscle tissue.the result is you heal slower and you get over the cold later.try some cardio after the workout and soak in a hot tub(jacuzzi would be best) or a hot pulsating shower and get plenty of sleep.tale a meal replacement shake of high quality whey protein before bedtime.deep tissue massage would also work

For max mass and strength do not lift the same body part more than 2 times a week. It may seem like alott of time but rest is where you build.

you can work out every other day without a problem of soreness. soreness will go away once you get blood flowing into the muscles.

i wouldn't lift weights. i'd workout something else till those stop hurting like your back/shoulders/chest or even forearms.
