Christians love to talk about how loving, dutiful and compassionate they are, yet I have yet to meet ONE who does not practice hypocrisy to the highest degree. I'm not talking about sinning. I'm talking about "selective morality”. What Christians like in the Bible, they cling to and shove down other’s throats; what they don’t like, they ignore vehemently The most frequent one I notice is Christian attempts to put prayer into schools as it goes completely against the teaching of Christ.

According to the Bible, Jesus said prayer should be a private affair devoid of public display: "And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room (or closet.) and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret..." Matthew 6:5-6

Have you noticed any other instances?

I am agnostic, not an atheist. For those who don't know, an agnostic is one who who believes that mankind cannot have true knowledge about the existence of God but does not deny that God might exist.

I'd appreciate it if you can answer this question without flaming me. Some of you seem to be taking my questions personally. I'm merely questioning the merit of Christianity.

You seem to hate Christians Sir.
Jesus made this statement about praying in private because the Judaic leaders used public prayer as a big beauty pageant to show how holy they were.
There are many instances when Jesus prayed together with his followers and early Christians were known to pray together.

I have seen few instances where Christians have attempted to put prayer into schools; the US Public school system is so multi- religious that enforcing any prayer will meet objections; that's why we have private denominational schools.

hmmmmm... dear define what u call "selective morality" & hypocrisy to the highest degree, may i suggest that u do not generalize "all" Christians, this thing you posted dear is not a question, atleast Christians are trying their best to make this world a loving place to live specially if u say they shove the Bible and prayer to others throats/ only God knows the content of anothers heart, its up to God to decide who is a hypocrite and whose not dear, not u or anybody, do the good u have to do, let them do theirs, nd make this world a beautiful loving place to live in ok ..... although shoving in the throat??? that is too strong a word dear for someone who quotes scripture..... what then is your religion?? i do hope that u cannot be called a hypocrite yourself.

Actually, I've noticed very few.
I'm one of those Christians who DOESN'T agree with prayer in schools, if it's led by a school official. If, however, the students take a vote, and they choose to have student-led prayer at an event, I see nothing wrong with that.
I wish we could meet. I think you would see very little of my life that's hypocritical.

Is it fair to generalize all atheists by saying they CAN'T be hypocrites because they don't even TRY to live to some higher moral standard? Are Christians going to fail? absolutely, simply BECAUSE we ARE TRYING to live according to a higher moral code. If you call that hypocrisy go for it. I call it being human, but I guess that's only allowed in the atheists world, right? You sound like a very bitter person!
EDIT:
OH, YOU would appreciate US not flaming YOU? (Insert agnostic for atheist in my statement above. I wouldn't want to be accused of being inaccurate, since your rant is SO factually based.)

i'd vote with you that the Islamic fundamentalists are many situations worse then at present's Christian equivalent. Islam although is likewise no longer monolithic. I have a tendency to imagine because it melds with extra secular societies it is going to also evolve and morph and as education will strengthen useful as well. i understand very useful or perhaps liberal Muslims. Even searching at some predominately Muslim international places like Turkey with its classes now operating with UNICEF and different businesses to inspire ladies to bypass to school and tries to secularize its goverment. Or Jordan's Queen Raina who clothing like off the canopy of vogue mag and is going and speaks as an equivalent at international summits. I do imagine the virulent forms of Islam are risky and something to oppose. some Christians do attempt to (and in many situations succeed) impose their beliefs on others as well, searching for the Christian equivalent of Sharia. contained in the proper i don't believe of its you should make certain one over the different. one might want to be adversarial to the theocratic, illiberal, and coercive contributors of any faith and that all of them do have their aspects and subject matters of persons no longer being content cloth to adhere to their beliefs for themselves and politics getting jumbled in. convinced although i imagine Islamic fundamentalists are the most virulent type of non secular fervor lengthy gone awry at present. i don't believe of they're all the same although or its a very bleak image.

Plenty...I went to a Fundamentalist Christian Academy for 6 years, studied the Bible for 6 years, Church history, theology, and one thing I came away from that experience was this. The Biggest Hypocrits and Liars were half of the Faculty, and all of the pastours of the school.

Intolerance, Bigotry and Hypocrisy was the order of the day. Several of our students went to Bob Jones University for a visit, and came back with stories of Racial prejudice and Bigotry. When we confronted their representative who came to our school for a recruitment drive, the junior and senior class was punished for being "disrespectful" to their representative. yeah, we were disrespectful, we were asking about students who were forced to live in Racially Segregated Dorms, and expulsions for racially mixed marriages, whele white students were allowed to marry without consequence...Yeah, we were disrespecful...
