technically speaking, a naked eye can see anything as far as the light orginated. the eye works ona simple dynamics whereby, if in coming light ray is reflected in our eye, it projects the image by processing it in our brain.

The sun is millions of miles away, yet we can see it because it is a huge source of light, but the light from my neighbour's room will be dull and barely noticeable because it is small and low in intensity.

Stars which are millions of light years away are still notieable, but only as a twinkle or a spark momentary light as thats the image light frame which reaches us.

the naked eye acuity is more focused on how sharp u can focus on rather than how far u can see. This acuity is meant as in, whether u can focus to see micro-organism, or at least, the smallest thing which we can afford to see.

in summary, how far can ur eyes see on a clear day, is subjected to from where the light comes from. Moreover, light travels straight, so u won't be able to see much if u look out from the tallest building as the earth is round.

On a clear night, you can see for millions of light years, on a clear day, you could see the same during a solar eclipse.

The stars are millions of light-years away! The sun is 93 million miles away. From Denver, you can (easily) see Pikes Peak and Longs Peak simultaneously (if you're in a good spot), which are over 100 miles apart from each other. I have ridden on airplanes that flew over Amarillo, and seen Pikes Peak from there, which is over 300 miles away. One last one, LOL: I have been on airplanes over central Florida and seen the Atlantic Ocean out one side and the Gulf of Mexico out the other.

Mainly, it's 11 miles towards the horizon. Other bad weather can cut off the milage of sight.
