I have and 05 stang and i am wondering what are the BEST 12" subs i can get. I really don't care about price but keep them under $400. Also, and amp would be good to go along with the subs so it would be nice to have input on that.

I like the Memphis Mojos 1000w RMS 2000w Max. I have 2. Great Subs.
I have them powered by a single Kenwood KAC-X522 and that is plenty of power for them. It pushes 505w RMS Bridged 1000w Peak

If you have mojos, people will know it.

Also, it will not be cheap for this equipment.

But, if you look, you can find this stuff for cheaper than retail. These subs are killer in the market, about 275-500 retail per sub, i got the box, and 2 subs for $180, you cant beat that. The Amp i was lucky to find and only paid 225 when it is most likey about 350+.

Everyone has a different opinion on subs/amps. In my opinion, the only equipment worth spending very much on is Diamond, Memphis or Eclipse. Those are the best, but they cost the most.

If you just want to beat, you don't need the most expensive stuff. That stuff is for audiophiles looking for tight bass, sound accuracy and quality, ect... The best thing for you would probably be some Kicker SoloBarics coupled with a 1200W 2 ch. amp.

I'd also like to point out that amplification is mandatory. I was just pointing that out; you seemed to think that it was optional.

listen to "Mike" 's response. the memphis subs are bad @$$. with woofers, stick with memphis, mtx, infinity, rockford or eclipse. JL AUDIO IS OVER-RATED. DID I MENTIONED OVER-PRICED?

you cant get real good subs with an amp for under $400. you can get a real good sub for under $400. i dont think you can get an amp for under $400 if you want a good one.

start saving your change then you can get a bad system that people will hear you coming from 100-200 yards away. and trust me, 100-200 yards away and hearing the subs is LOUD! 50 yards is loud! for a single 12, if you can manage to get a rockford punch stage 3, your gonna go deaf! lol. you can always check out the POWER STAGE 3's. heres a link to the rockford of which i would highly recommend for under $250

First bypass ahead and drop that 4 ohm load to a 2 ohm load, you'd be satisfied you probably did. Your voice coils must be stressed like this: pos to pos, and neg to neg, then out from one voice coil to the relationship on the field. This amp is purely going to provide you 800watts rms at 2 ohms. do purely no longer turn your income as a lot as highas you'll then be over powering your sub and can want to blow it. yet it truly is in many situations performed. Your sub must be superb with the flexibility that it's going to be getting because the shape R is a reliable sub. bypass ahead and set your filters on the amp and do purely no longer turn the income as a lot as a lot is all. once you commence listening to any distortion coming from the sub, or the sub purely no longer sounding proper, commence turning your income down slowly. Then income from the bass.

for $400 ur not gonna get THE BEST subs, especially 12's.... If ur looking for the best then your best bet is alpine, rockford, kicker or jl. Those are the best brands out there but for two 12's in a box its gonna run you at leats $500. For two 12's ur gonna need like a 1000w amp and tha'tll cost at least $175-$200 for a god one.

depends on which kind of bass you want. do you want the kind that sounds awful, but it really loud? if thats the case, you want brands like Kicker, MTX, and Rockford.

but if you want subs that are not the loudest in the world, but sound just amazing, then go with brands like Diamond audio, Boston Acoustics, MB Quart, Eclipse, and Kenwood Excelon.

$400 is not a lot to spend on 2 12's on a amp. put you can do it. and here is what i would do if i were you.

I would get 2 of these subs:

and this amp:
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-2006-KENWOOD-EXCELON-KAC-X522-1000-W-2-CHANNEL-AMP_W0QQitemZ180058017023QQihZ008QQcategoryZ39734QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

run the amp 2 channel at 2 ohms.

hope it helps, and good luck

look at car audio equipment on ebay. you can get good deals on there if you dont mind waiting for them to ship. a shop in my area quoted me a price of 1100 for two subs and an amp in a custom box. i got the same subs and amp on ebay for under 200, and gave them 250 to build the box....you can save cash, and get what you want.
