CVV code stands for card verification value, and it proves to a vendor that you actually have the card and haven't just stolen someone's credit card number and expiry date. It may be 3-5 numbers long, usually found near the signature line on the back of the card, except for American Express which has a 4 digit number printed on the front of the card.

CVV stands for Card Verification value, This number is to verify you are the owner of your credit card, It simply means anti-fraud security number.
It is the last 3 digit number printed on the back of the VISA/MASTER Card immediately after the card number or on the right side of the signature line. For American Express credit card, it is the last 4 digit number printed on front of the card above the card number.

On an Amex, there are 4 digits on the front of the card (not the expiration date). On all other cards, look for the last 3 digits printed on the signature strip across the back.

Your card will have the number printed by your signature on the back of the card (usually above). It is the last 3 numbers.
