I'm Catholic, but I have spoken to many of them who has come to my door. Mostly to listen to them, and then share mine.:) From what they told me, they have redone the bible to cut down confusion. Their chapel is called kingdom hall. They have 3 elders? who are called the watchtower and if you see another member sinning you go to them. You tell the watchtowers what and who did what, then the watchtower deals with the member(s), possibly excommunicate them and tell them they will go to hell. You have to "work" so many hours of witnessing and gaining new members before you can be baptized....uhm, that's all i can remember right now. Go to www.towerwatch.com. I'm not saying they are wrong, that's God's job to do for you in your heart. Pray to Him and He will help you make the right decision!

Ask your friend to explain her religion to you. She will be happy to share with you her beliefs and show you in your own Bible the scriptures that support her. There is a book called "What Does The Bible Really Teach?" that you might ask her for, and it explains in a straighforward and simple way the basic concepts of our belief system and organization. Good luck! And try visiting her Kingdom Hall with her.. you might just be surprised. I was! There are no racial lines, no social lines, and no monetary lines in a Kingdom Hall. There is no collection plate passed around, and no preacher Bible thumping. It's worth a shot, don't you think? And then later, you can say you made an INFORMED decision. And please don't decide until you know the truth about things... so many on here have no clue as to the truth about what we believe. We DO believe in Jesus. We DO believe that Jesus is God's son, and that He gave His life for us as a sacrifice. Those are the sorts of things I mean... learn first and THEN make an informed decision!!

Unlike other religions, JWs don't have rituals, so going does not mean you have to participate or do anything. They don't even pass the plate. Take your own Bible, you will find the same scriptures they quote in it. You don't have to study, join, or anything else. Perhaps if more people would pay a visit on Sunday, instead of just listening to a lot of phony claims, they would see for themselves there is nothing to fear. Since each Kingdom Hall hold 3-4 congregaitons, going does not even have to interfer with going to your own church.
It is no different than trying to get an atheist to come to church, to see for themselves. Yes, there teachings are a little different, but then so was those of the first Christians, who were Jews going house to house to convert their brethren.

Jehovah's Witnesses understand the Scriptures to teach that God's Kingdom will soon replace all earthly governments.
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite
That Kingdom will rule over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
(Acts 24:15) There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.
Until that resurrection, there is no suffering in "hell", or the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire
While a limitted number of humans will be resurrected to heaven to share in ruling over mankind, the vast majority (literally more than 99.9%) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]
Interestingly, the Scriptures are full of references to this earthly hope.
(Psalms 37:11) 'the meek will possess the earth'
(Proverbs 2:21) 'upright will reside in the earth'
(Isaiah 45:18) 'God formed the earth to be inhabited'
(Matthew 5:5) 'the mild will inherit the earth'
(Revelation 21:3) The tent of God is with mankind

Is your friend a nice girl?
You will be happy to have gone with her. As many are saying, ask a witness about it. If you want, you can start a Bible study to find out about their basic teachings, and you can stop any time.
Jehovah is God's name; his son is Jesus Christ. Jesus died so that those exercising faith in him might have everlasting life on a paradise earth- and perfect life, at that.
All of their beliefs are based strictly on the Bible. Hope I've helped.

If you want accurate information about Jehovah, would you seek answers from his enemy, Satan? I hope not!
If your friend invited you to a meeting of Jehovah's Witnesses, why don't you ask her? If you pose your question in an open forum like this one, you are going to get answers from uninformed people and characters like the one who posted the comment above mine.

Well I know that they believe only 144,000 people will go to Heaven - only 12,000 of each of the twelve tribes of Israel. It doesn't leave a lot of hope for you or me to make it therefore I don't buy into it. The Bible is very clear that "whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." It also says that "God so loved the WORLD that He gave His only Son that WHOSOEVER believes in Him shall be saved and given the gift of eternal life. Any religion or doctrine or practice that tries to tell you otherwise is LYING to you.

There is a great little book called: "Religions of The World Made Easy" It can be found at most bookstores for about $3.00 It is full of writings from the source and references. This way you can make your own decisions about any religion or cult.

JW is not a Christian denomination. Do not be fooled. They do not believe that Jesus was the son of God or that he rose from the dead. They "act" like Christians, why- I do not know. They believe that heaven is already closed to new believers. Thats about all I know. Look online for an 'anti-cult' website for more info.
