I have friends coming into LaGuardia and staying in Downtown Manhattan, could anyone tell me the price of a taxi or good subway directions...thanks much.

Taxi is about $30, Private car $40 (777-7777), Bus $2..

take the M-60 from LGA to the N train at 31st and Astoria blvd . At that point the subway is elevated - and then take the N into Lower Manhattan.
New Yorkers usually use the term Downtown as anything below Canal St although some may stretch the boundary northwards to Houston st.
If you tell us exactly where they are going and when the flight arrives we can clarify the details a bit.

call the cab company in laguardia and ask the price from there to where they are going.call the subway and get info as well. yellow pages.com will give you info on places to call for the cab co. and the subway info.

The standard cab fare from La Guardia Airport to Manhattan is $ 40 dollars. That's a flat fare, to any destination in Manhattan. If you go to more than one destination, they will charge you the metered fare from the first destination to any further destination.

A taxi will cost about $25.00-$35.00. Subway is now $2.00 (I think). If taking the subway, you may have to change trains to get downtown. Take the #6 Lexington Ave. train downtown.
