I found the perfect gift for my boyfriend, but it costs $250. I can afford it, but that is a lot of money to spend on someone without a commitment. On top of that we haven't be together that long. Should I get it for him knowing that he'll love it and perhaps next Christmas I'll get 'The Ring' I want or should I not get it and get him a decent gift that does not cost as much?

Gifts should come from the heart, not the wallet. Find him something nice, but also something that he will love just because it comes from you.

If you haven't gone out for that long, maybe you should get him something like a music CD or a gift voucher to his favourite shop. You could save the ring till when you both are commited and you've been out for a long time.
