The catch 22 about sweets is that they create an immediate sugar rush and the almost as immediate crash which will lead to another craving. The only way to control your cravings for sweets is to make sure you are eating a regular diet of foods that keep your blood sugar stable. You need to eat every 2-3 hours starting with breakfast. You need a combination of high fibre, protein, complex carbs and healthy fats. And lots and lots of water. Foods that are lower on the Glycemic Index take longer for your body to digest, keep you feeling full longer, and stablize your blood sugar. Try researching the Glycemic Index for menu ideas.

If you are trying to lose weight by starving yourself you will not be able to control your emotional eating and you will never get a handle on your sweets craving. So you start with making sure your body has a steady supply of the right foods. To do this you need to plan ahead. You need to pack your lunches and snacks and eat them. Doing this will also improve your energy levels and you may be able to fit in exercise, which will also improve your energy levels and help you lose weight.

Trust me, I have always had major problems with emotional eating and I was amazed at how my cravings almost vanished by eating this way. I wasn't perfect, no one is and if you try to be that leads to failure. I am now extremely close to the weight I want to be and my cravings usually only come when I go too long without eating.

You should first remove all sweets and fattening food from your house so there will not be any temptation. If those foods are in the house you will not be able to control yourself having those cravings and knowing they are in the house. So, you work two jobs? Take a healthy snack with you to work, maybe some nuts to munch on to control yourself, find other ways to comfort yourself. If you have breaks at work, take a walk around the block, or if you have a flight of stairs in the building, walk up and down them a few times..you know, try to fit in simple exercises when you have those 10 or 15 minute breaks

Stop using food as a crutch. I've been there...I topped out at over 230 lbs years ago but when I got sick of how I felt, how I looked, and what my future was (health-wise) I got some self control and will power and dropped 90 lbs.

Don't keep ANY sweets or junk food in the house. Don't keep change on you or small bills so you can't hit the vending machine at work so easily. Pay for your gas at the pump, don't go into the store where you will be temped.

Keep healthy snacks around...fruit, nuts, cheese sticks, yogurt, etc.

Exercise as you can...make time (we can always make time for things that are important to us). Start by doing 30 mins of exercise activity a day, even if you have to break it into 3 ten minute segments.

On your breaks at work, go for a walk instead of eating or sitting...park far from the store or office and walk...take the stairs, instead of elevator or escalator...walk to your mailbox, don't drive...add as much physical activity as you can to your day.

The more healthy you eat and the more activity you get, the more you'll start to have energy and be able to do more. Poor diet and and a sedentary life will keep you without energy. Get on a good multivitamin too, to help give you whatever your diet may be lacking...drink lots of water (only drink a flavored beverage with your meal and then make it a diet soda or tea/coffee with artificial sweetner).

You CAN do it...trust me...you just have to want it bad enough!

As a sweets addict, I can definitely feel your pain. I highly recommend weight watcher's muffins and cakes to cure those cravings. Also, eat fudgicles instead of icecream. Another good recipe is low-fat or fat free whipped cream between two chocolate graham crackers--place in freezer and when they're frozen, it's like an ice cream sandwich--yummy! You'd be amazed at what substituting simple things will do for your weight loss. Good luck!!!

Hi,

Some people may advise you to switch to sugar-free sweets but although it contains much lesser calories, it's not advisable to eat alot. The idea that its sugar-free will tempt people to eat many many more since it removes their "guilt".

Sugar-free sweets in fact will cause craving for sugar/carbohydrates to increase. It will stimulate appetitie and may cause you to end up having huge cravings for cakes, desserts, rice and flour stuff. All these are carbohydrates and have a high glycermic level (GI). Therefore, they turn into sugar at a faster rate and excess sugar converts to fats. The usage of artificial sugar might also be harmful to a certain extent, as the chemical aspartame is rumoured to cause cancer, though it's not officially proven. But it's not worth the risk.

My advise is to eat smaller meals but more frequently throughout the day, e.g. 6 smaller meals instead of 3 main huge meals. Take more whole grain cereal/ brown rice/ wholewheat pasta (instead of white rice), but not too much also, take low fat milk, less coffee, less soft drinks...

Take protein snacks when you are hungry, take more stuff like egg white, healthy nuts, fruits like guava, papaya, apple, and those with low sugar/high fibre. Fibre slows down the breaking down of sugar during digestion, so do eat more fibre food like vegetables. Start your meal with veg so that you feel full faster and you'll tend to end up eating less. Do not rush your meals and slowly enjoy and savour the taste. Your tastebuds and body will feel more satiated and get the signal of satisfaction.

Hope that you'll be able to fulfil your dream. Take it slowly, then any weight loss will be longer lasting. :)

If you have constant cravings for sweets and for example, may eat a whole box (or more than one) of chocolate without getting sick, you probably have hypoglycemia (check with your doctor). You have to control this by eating first your protein and then your carbs/sweets. You have to try to cut down as much as possible sugar and change it for fructose, splenda, etc. Try fruit instead of candy, desserts for diabetics, etc. you have to regulate your insulin levels, this will boost up your energy and make you loose weight.

Eat healthy, is the most important, and never skip your breakfast, is the most important meal of the day.

Don't eat any sweets! Cut out pop, bread, basically any starch, sweet, don't drink alcohol, eat salads. Don't pour the dressing on your salad. Put it in a small dish and dip your fork in the dressing before you dig in your salad. You'll save calories that way. Drink lots of water and exercise! Good luck. I don't know if it's possible to lose 10lbs in 14 days, but it might work. You'll just have to sweat it out!

you can buy protein bars that keep down your hunger...
switch out 2 meals a day for special k (its actually really good)
think of healthy sweets... like apples and peanut butter...
get one of those things that monitor the steps you take and everyday set yourself a new goal...
there are plenty of things you just need to commit a little bit to make a big change...
also try cooking in stead of eating out if thats what you do... but make sure its from scratch and not box... and add more vegetables and leave out things such as pasta, bread, and rice and potatoes... anything with starch... also when your about to eat something sweet and sugary talk to yourself and say do i really need this is this really going to help me or hurt me in getting to my goal...

Why don't you try some of the SlimFast meal replacement bars.... they are sweet and good for you to have for breakfast or lunch. You have to have the bar instead of a meal though, not just for a snack because they are full of protien, carbs and calories (since they are supposed to replace a meal)
