They wouldn't do it if it wasn't necessary. Although you can move and use a bedpan, the bedpan won't be there all the time. I don't know what kind of surgery you had, but it obviously made it so that you can't hold it for as long---or at all.
You'll be fine. It's only for the first week or so. Worse things could happen, like the surgery having failed. Chin up. :-)

I like wearing diapers, and I am 40, very continent, but I just like wearing diapers. Are you afraid of getting used to wearing a diaper, and therefore, the transition back to underwear may be harder? Do you have a girlfriend, that may not understand? Enjoy yourself, and do what is best for you. I would wear diapers if I knew I could not make it to the toilet. Do you like using a bedpan? They can be difficult to manuever, but, you have to decide this for yourself.

I've been in diapers at night now for the last 7 years since my back surgery. It's better to wake up in a wet diaper than a wet bed.

humilation should be the last thing on your mind.Getting better, your over the hump now you had your surgery you did it be proud of your self your gonna look at the diaper thing as a minor thing you have so much to accomplish and have accomplished why would you let your self get down over something so little.those people will work on millions of people thats thier job to get you well,I always say be thankful for little things like those diapers who let you go discreetly. What if there wasn't those things they would be cleaning up a huge mess,so God bless for that.Everyone in life needs a little taking care of so go ahead .Soon all the work lies in your hands,so enjoy a little pampering!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is just my opinion but I think it is for convience of the staff.
Being medicated you may not know when you have to go so they put you in diapers, Then you don't mess the bed and they don't have to clean the bed and your gown, etc., not to mention you don't get all messed up either should you move and are unaware. I understand your feelings but if you think about it, It might be worth it to be in the diaper.

I've never heard of that. We don't put our back patients in diapers. You have the right to refuse, you know.

when they operated on ur back, they probably did something that affects ur ability to tell u when u need to go to the toilet. so to prevent accidents, they put the nappy on u. as the physio helps u get better with muscles, ull b able to tell when u need to go to the toilet and u wont need the nappy anymore.
