She hasn't eaten or drunk for four days, and has been sick twice; no diarrhoea. She will take water from a pipete, she wont even lick yoghurt off her paws. Vet today gave antibiotics, antisickness injection and painkillers, going back tomorrow. He thinks she may have swallowed something - he seemed to imply this would be serious, I'm now really worried. Has anyone had anythign like this happen??

It depends on what she ate, if the vet didn't think it necessary that she stay in overnight then I wouldn't be too worried.....however, if you are that worried maybe ring another vets and explain your situation and ask fr a 2nd consultation. Good luck!

Has your vet taken an x-ray? This is most important, as it will show if there is some sort of obstruction. Good luck! I've had some seriously sick cats before, and most have come out okay.

Why the h*** didn't he x-ray her? Painkillers and antibiotics aren't going to do a thing for her if she has a hairband in her stomach or intestines. She will need surgery immediately.

they could have deliruim that happens when cats get poisoned has your cat been staggering around or bumping into walls or yowling horribly? if he indicates he is in any agony you should tell the vet he may possibly have ingested something poisnous (which asprin, holiday poinsettas and mistletoe are poisonous to animals) you should consider the fact if it has accidentally poisoned itself to put it down i know its sad but i did have a cat that got poisoned lived for a week eventually started crapping on itself got delirious and then died you dont want to see an animal like that.

A hairband? Why would she swallow a hairband? Oh well anyway.. well are you getting things that you're cat likes? Well try your cats favorite cat food.. maybe treat? Cats will have to eat there treat they could like risk there life for it!!

that is a lot of medicens for a kitten ,i will be suprised if it survives ,cats do not respond to well to medicens anyway.
be prepared for that
,
but kittens are a dime a dozen ,
if that happens just get another one.
good luck to the kitten.
