We have had dish network and time warner. I like time warner b/c every time we got the slightest bit of rain the dish network would go out(that would totally make me mad). We couldnt get any local channels.(it might have changed since we had it) Also dish would block out the cincinnati reds games when they were local (grrr)

Channel lineup and cost are probably your two biggest issues to help you decide.

I have had Cox Cable, Time Warner Cable, and Dish Network. Of the three Dish had the worst reliability and customer service. During the two years I had Dish there were three separate occasions when we went without a TV signal for at least a week. We were living in Southern California, no weather problems associated with the service disruptions. Overall Cox was my favorite.

Choices, it all about choices.

Cable companies have their problems as well as satellite companies. With cable, if there is a problem it effect hundreds, satellite effects as many or more when a storm flows by, however after the storm go by, the problem corrects itself. You are not left out by the cable company not answering their phone or no one available to answer it. When a cable fails, they have to dispatch a repair crew to locate and fix the problem. That can take hours or even days to do.

Needless to say, I have satellite and the only failures I have incurred int 10 years of service are very short outages (5 to 10 minutes) on an average of 1 per year. By the way those outages were caused by sever thunder storms to the south.
