I've heard of it causing wrinkles, breast cancer, lung cancer, emphysema & a lot of other things, but not hair falling out. Sorry......Tell her to have her thyroid checked.

I think you might also want to explore vitamin deficiencies as well. Also certain medications and illnesses can cause hair loss. Is she menopausal (lack of hormones)? Maybe just a good physical w/blood work will show up more than just randomly blaming it on something you want her to stop doing (smoking).

Nicotine doesn't make your hair fall out, it only kills you. So other than that you don't have much to worry about.
