Basically, sponge fingers with sugar coating. Used to form the base of a trifle, or dipped into fancy desserts in large glasses.

They do them in our local tesco and its a 24 hr one and its like five mins away. Would you like me to go and get you some ?

I find these (or any trifle sponges) rather disgusting. I use a Jam (not one with fondant) filled swiss roll cut into slices. It's very pretty in a trifle, and tastes much better too !! Hope that helps :)

You will get them in any supermarket but have you never tried using jam swiss roll instead? It is much nicer and saves you putting jam in your sponge fingers.Just cut it into chunks and soak in sherry and/or brandy.Trust me you will love it.
