I'm wondering if the person who said that Christianity is hovering at around 2 billion is a conservative Christian.... they usually only consider Catholics as Christians when they quote that particular statistic. Otherwise, Catholics aren't Christians.
Also, the number of existing members of a faith doesn't say anything about it's growth or decline. Also, there are many members of the Christian faith who are not active, and these are obviously not considered in the statistics... active or inactive, they are counted as "members". Many who are counted as members may actually be practitioners of another faith, as one rarely formally leaves a Christian Church... they just leave, and many churches don't remove them from their rosters. If the number of Christians is counted by the total of the number of members of churches, this leaves room for many people to be counted more than once.
In any case, one of the fastest growing religions is NeoPaganism. This may be misleading as small religions with few members grow faster percentage-wise than they do in actual numbers, but Neo-pagans, in the United States number more than a million. As there are no churches reporting these numbers, I assume that this was gathered by Census information, which is much more reliable.

Yes, the Muslim religion is indeed increasing; from 911 many young people have joined the Islamic faith. I often wonder just why it took a terrorist disaster to increase the Muslim flocks; did they believe that Islam believed in Murdering innocent folks.
The truth of a religion may not be in it's numbers; remember, the Catholic faith was strongest in the Middle ages when very many atrocities were committed.

Ah, well you forgot to take in the fact that Islam is only increasing in the Islam Countries, and Christianity is decreasing in the Islam Countries. Worldwide, Christianity is not increasing or decreasing and Islam is decreasing. Get your facts straight. And we're still ahead of you by a galaxy-width, so I wouldn't sweat it.
PS--I have nothing against Muslims or Islam, but you just had to insult us.
If you mess with the bull, you get the horns.
Al-Qaeda has already learned that lesson.

And Christ said that when He returns, will He find Faith on the Earth?
Nowhere has it promised that the world will be converted before He returns; rather, it seems that the world is going to become very pagan just before He returns to rescue His World from total destruction.
When the LAST convert is noted in Heaven, then expect to hear A SHOUT, the Voice of the Archangel, and the TRUMPET OF GOD. And a call to "believers", "Come Up Here".

1. muslim propaganda...their statistics, not ours..besides, any growth is coming from the large growth rate within families, and mulitple marrriages.....osama bind laden came from a family of 53 children....muslims just have constant sex with 4 wives....it has nothing to do with people desiring islam as a faith....aslo most islam is forced on people..under threat of death.
2. however, spiritual darkness is increasing....do not believe every piece of propaganda you hear...

You need to investigate the geographical area of each religious group as well as the numbers.
Christianity is spread on every continent and country. Islam while prolific is somewhat regional and isolated geographically.
Once they are exposed to democracy and freedom of religion their influence declines.

Just because the Muslim religion is winning the race doesn't necessarily mean the religion will win. Besides, it's the wrong religion anyway.

The erroneous assumption in this question is that everyone who claims to be a Christian truly is. What do I care if non-believers pretend to be of one faith or another? No matter what they PRETEND, there is only one reality awaiting them.
