Now I'm an adult and know this is a silly question, but I need a serious answer to settle a debate between my husband and I. My three year likes to cross her eyes and stick out her tongue because it makes me laugh, my husband hates it when she does that and gets mad at me for permitting it because he's afraid they will get stuck like that. I don't think it's true, but I can be wrong. Please give me a honest answer possible by experience.

I highly doubt it seeing cross eyed conditions are something you are born with not something you cause. I can make myself see double, because I was born with a flexible eye muscle, as a teen had surgery to correct, but still see double especially when I'm tired. But by making myself see double didn't cause the problem. I wouldn't worry.

I have never hear of any one that did that as a child getting their eyes stuck in that position. That is just and old wives tail to keep childred from looking silly.
I am no expert mind you but I think that she should be okay as long as she does not hold them that way from hours on end.
No real need to consult a doctors opinion either it is fair to say there is really no need to be scard she is just beeing a child.
But if you are really concerd next time you see the eye doctor ask them that question I am sure they will get a big laugh.

Well Mom, stop laughing. If you reward a child for doing something like that they will not stop.

I really never heard of any ones eyes getting stuck. In 65 years I think I would have heard of at least on person if it had ever happened.
