You can give your dog real bones but make sure never to give him Chicken bones or bones that are small and splinter easily as they can get stuck in the throat or cause problems further down.
You're best off buying the bones available from pet stores as they are designed not to break and splinter but your dog will still get the teeth cleaning benefits.

Badgrl, what an absolute load of rubbish. The natural food for dogs is raw mearty bones, not the stuff sold in pet stores
