I have a dog, chocolate lab-austrailian shepard mix. She is 2 1/2 years old and an escape artist. I cannot keep her indoors and so she and my golden retriever have a nice kennel and dog house. I cannot keep her in. She climbs, so I tried tying her up in the kennel but there isnt a collar out there that she can't slip out of. Our next move is to put a roof on the top of the kennel, but she is also a digger. It is too cold right now to pour a cement floor. If I cant contain her, I am going to have to find her a new home. Any suggestions?

Try an electric fence along the bottom and top of the kennel. They are very easy to install and very inexpensive at your local farm supply store. If you put it half way up as well as around the bottom you would not have to put a top on it. Good luck.

A roof would solve the climbing problem. To stop the digging bury chicken wire a few inches around the inside edges of the kennel. The chicken wire will stop the dog from digging

My friend has an 'invisible fence' for his golden retriever. The dog wears a special collar, and an electric fence is burried underground. When the dog, wearing the collar, steps up to the fence, she'll get a small shock. That way, if she does escape from anything, she can't get past your yard.

not sure where you are but is it also too cold to dig. sometimes attaching a thick chicken type wire to the bottom of the fence then bury it about 3 feet don but also on an angle. dogs dig straight down from the edge of the fence. they'll hit the fence and will not be able to dig any further

We have a black lab-pit mix. She's a baby when it's cold, and won't come in when it's warm. Big dogs get lonely, bored ,cold, need lots of attention, need to walk a couple times a day or run and need to play with you and toys. Can you make them inside/outside dogs for company and playtime? And walk alot to get the energy out? I really understand that alot of people can't do that, but it really is what they need to de-energize them. Hope everything turns out ok for you guys.

Get a harness for her and make sure it fits properly. If it is properly adjusted she should not be able to get out of it unless she chews it apart.
