My son is allergic to milk and I usually simply replace milk by soy or rice milk. However, the recipe I wanted to say we should put vinegar in the milk first. I supposed this is to make the milk curdle? Will that work if I use soy milk? Should I use soy yogourt instead?

Yes, the vinegar is designd to clabber the milk. You can just use water, though. Keep the vinegar, however... it's probably necessary to cause baking soda to leaven the cake.

Find a different recipe. I don't think soy will curdle with vinegar.

Try it out with soy first if that does not work try to use water instead that's how you will find out if it works or not.
