Initially, you will loose some weight, it depends totally on your size and level of activity. But, your body sensing that it is not getting any food, will go into famine mode, meaning your body will stop losing weight and hang on to any fats, carbs and water that it can. Eventually you will begin to loose weight, but your body will begin taking nourishment from your muscles, like your heart and will begin effecting your brain. If you are trying to loose a lot of weight in a short period of time, forget it. It wont' work and will only make you sick.

It is funny you ask this. The truth is, our society is becoming more and more dependent on food, and as a result we are becoming... I can't say!
Bibically, Jesus would go on 30 day fast (40 days according to the Hebrew calender). Along with that, many other casts of the bible fasted for months, at a time.
These were the ones with the strongest faith. For us, however, we have become so spoiled and when we can't have food, its difficult for our bodies to adjust.
This brings about an idea for me, too. Try it!
Start slowly and fast for one day or skip a meal or two until you are able to go for longer periods. So consult with you Physician for his advice on fasting Then, you tell me if you see a difference.
Because Anorexia Is an attempt to use food and weight to deal with emotional problems, they may experience a greater consequence than fasting itself. Thus, you may not loose as many pounds as the anorexic, because you wouldn't have all of the worry and stress.
Hope this answers your question!

You would probably lose weight for the first few days and then NONE. Your body would start starving (literally) and would start storing whatever fat reserves you might have. If you didn't end up in the hospital it would be a miracle. Bodies need nourishment.
You actually lose more weight eating several small HEALTHY, NUTRITIOUS meals a day then you would if you starved yourself.

Well, here is your serious answer. Anorexia is not a weight loss plan, it is a mental illness. You say you aren't planning on becoming anorexic, but why else would you be so curious or even thinking about these kinds of questions? If you think you have a problem with body image, please talk to a doctor before it turns into full blown Anorexia. HTH : )

I know of someone who lost almost twenty pounds. They also had lots of problems as they tried to continue an excessive exercise regimen consisting of 5+ one to three hour workouts....
