I'm clinicly depressed and I think the anti-depressants are a underdose, I still feel like killing myself and continue to cut myself... so should I go back to the hospital... I hated it there but my girlfriends really worried about me and I dont want to end up killing myself and hurting her.

oh the medication I'm taking is Buperion ER(or something like that) and I take 300 MGs a day (150 in the morning; 150 at night) but I'm kinda worried because if the dose is higher then 400 I have an increased chance to have a seizure(along with some other things I found out when I googled it side effects)... and it already causes my muscles to twitch from time to time

Definitely talk to your doctor...you should not have been released until you no longer had the desire to end your life.
Take care of you...try to realize that it's chemicals in your brain that are affecting your mood, and when the meds can get them leveled out, the sun will shine on your life again and you'll wonder why you wanted to die.
Hang in there!

Have you also been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder?
I work with individuals with MI. One individual is a cutter, in this persons case the cutting still happens no matter the medication, BUT the cutting is less with Effexor XR than it is with Zoloft. Your question is very hard to answer not knowing the medication you are on, the dosages or how long you have been on them. In my opinion, if you and your girlfriend are both worried and you are not only worried for your safety but also for hers, I believe that you do need to spend some time in the Mental Health Unit and get balanced out. Good luck and remember that there are support groups.

If you feel that your medication is not working properly, you should definitely go back to the hospital, even if you hate the place. You are in a very delicate position and should not be alone through this process. Please ask your girlfriend and your family to take you to the hospital rigth away. Sometimes we must do things we don't need in order to get what we want. Things are clear, you don't want to end up killing yourself, then ask for help. There's no shame in it, all the contrary. Take it from someone who understands perfectly and has lived your same situation.
Please feel free to get in touch with me if you need to talk or just be listened to, I know for sure how difficult can be to deal with depressure. Here's my e-mail address: franciscojtovar@yahoo.com I don't give u my phone number because I'm not in the States. Anyway, take care and God Bless You!!!

Absolutely go back. Tell them exactly what you told us.
When anti-deps are prescribed, it's a challenge to prescribe enough to get the person through the problem without over-prescribing.
If they're not working, they're not working. Go back to your doc and discuss it. Either your quantity will get boosted, or you'll get moved to something else (depending on what you're on, how long you've been on it, and so forth).
Chances are you may need a higher dose, or possibly a different kind, or a supplement.

As a rule, it takes between 4 to 6 weeks before most anti depressants offer any type of help.
If at any time you feel you need to talk to someone, go to your doctor, local hospital or call anyone of the distress type numbers that are available.
There are lots of organizations and groups to talk to, find the one that makes you feel most comfortable and talk with them.

if you feel that it isnt safe for you to continue with your current dose then yes. if you go back then you'll do yourself and your girl a favor. and if they determine that you cant have anymore than what you are taking then at least you tried and they can ehlp you find another way to feel better but at least take a step and go talk to the doctor.
