We CAN run out of potable water, and we are doing so. The majority of driking water in the US comes from groundwater, groundwater which we are polluting very quickly. I am not an environmental scientist, so it is beyond my level of expertise to say at what point in time will this problem be devastating, but it is heading in that direction.

If you check the local areas around you, you may find -WE ALREADY ARE. If you look at how many place have to import water, and the way they treat the water(chemically) then you'll have a fair idea. I am reminded of a filmstrip I saw that showed an up-scale neighborhood that no one could live in because of PCB poisoning. Its already here, we do suffer because of it.

yes to both, and most importantly we already have.
only "wealthy" countries have access to clean water, and with all the trash we produce each year the water gets more and more polluted. even now the water smells like it's 50% chlorine.

yes, we will suffer from water pollution
we cant ever really run out of clean water, but our needs can exceed the supply, driving the price up
