I have a problem understanding alcohol, just hear me out

I'm not saying people should get drunk or its the grown up things to do.

What is the point of drinking alcohol if your not going to get drunk?

I mean I would not mind drinking a pint or two with some mates but I dont see what it does.

The alone time alcohol seems to work is when your drunk.

So is have one or two pints pointless?

Is drinking pointless?

I'm 19. I don't drink alcohol. I was just wondering about it because I know people who have one or two pints and I can't see a difference in them.

So I was just wondering what the point was in drinking alcohol.

Sorry for the confusion, maybe should have pharsed it better.

I have already stated at the top of the page I'm not telling people to get drunk or that drinking alcohol is grown up thing to do.

Also it's Yahoo that made the Beer, Wine and Spirits topic... So these sort of questions could be asked

Just 5 or 6 pints on a midweek night can relax you after a bad day at work and then the next day you feel a lot better. But yes, if you're going to abuse your body by drinking 5 or 6 pints then you might as well drink about 15 pints and get hammered and really enjoy yourself.

Never been arrested, never been in hospital, never caused any trouble when I'm drunk. It's only my own body that I am ruining. I am causing no harm to anyone else.

Some drinks taste nice, including non-alcoholic lagers so lager must have a pleasant taste. You can also experience a slightly warm feeling after one drink, and you can decide to stop then. But it takes 1/2 hour or more to feel that effect and most people have gone on to the next drink by then. However the concept of "drunk" is different for each individual. I like a drink, but I don't like to drink enough to be my interpretation of drunk.

It's a way of socializing. Some people take it to the extreme and get drunk. Some people go out with others and don't drink at all. For some people it's a way of de-stressing. For others it's a way to find courage. Drinking means different things to different people. So to answer your question, no it isn't pointless.

For almost everyone, drinking one or two pints makes you feel relaxed and slightly euphoric. It enables people to feel more free to enjoy social encounters - it gets things moving.

If you are saying that you don't feel the effects of just one or two drinks, and must drink, presumably, 6 pints or more, then this shows you have a high tolerence to alcohol.
I suspect, but don't know, that you might have a drink problem in that you drink too much too often.
Try to cut down, it is very hard to do this, and you might then discover that just one or two drinks do have an effect.

It is interesting though - I find that having just a half pint actually makes me feel worse than having nothing - makes me more anxious not less.

I personally can feel a buzz drinking just a little, and I prefer that feeling over getting completely sloshed. It's pleasant, but I'm still in control. I also enjoy the taste of margaritas, daquiries, some of the drinks like that; its fun to drink with my friends, even if I dont get hammered. Some people though, like you, only want to get drunk.

this is just ones perception on how he feels about drinking. But, I will personally tell you my take on it. See, Im not a very big crinker, I maybe have 1-2 drinks about every 6months, becuase I grew up in a alcholic family, Ive seen & heard so much trash its not funny. I even had an Aunt that was in a HUGH wreck because both drivers were drunk, BUT she was the ONLY survivor, her thinking is............he was drunk too. But, she was in a KING CAB DODGE RAM TRUCK, the other driver was in a little yogo. So the other driver knew hes time was up when she hit him on inpact, she ONLY got (get this, this is an example of how unfair justic is, & how much money talks), 30 days INHOME PRISONMENT!! THATS IT!! When her time was done, she continued to keep drinking! She drinked right to her dying day, & the last 2 years of her life, she was on a feedign tube, & my sorry *** uncle was feeding her pina coladas through her feeding tube too!

So because of this...................if I do drink its not much, & its really at my home too. If I drink, I REFUSE TO DRIVE!

I find that one glass of wine is rather relaxing in the evening in front of the telly. Doesn't get you drunk, but it feels nice
