Every one is going to answer their own breed, you know this, right? In theme with that... Pittie! They're great dogs if you raise them right.
Seriously, though... take your family down to the local shelter, and find the dog that is right for all three of you. You'll know when you see the right one... both you and your fiance will just know.

I would say a boxer, labrador, golden retriever, bull mastiff, bernese mountain dog, vizsla, pointer, german shepard, siberian husky. but i think boxers are great with children but then again any dog could be good with children given the right training and socialization.....
but as a puppy larger breeds are bouncy and will knock over a small child by accident. Puppies need constant supervision so please don't leave your pup alone at any minute with your child even for a second, they need to be trained from day one.
I have two small children and got an american bulldog my 2 year old got scared of it cause it was constantly trying to play with her and jump on her i had to keep him tethered to me through out the day but when she got close he always jumped to say hi, my girl just froze when she was around it. We now have a boston terrier who is a great dog i had to do a lot of research and reading to find what suited my home. He is the perfect size for our home but we plan on getting a larger dog in the near future and are leaning more towards a bull mastiff or boxer..... We had to find the american bulldog another home cause he started becoming agressive and dominant after getting attacked by a dog off of its leash, so sad but i couldn't control him after that and he just started getting jumpy after the attack.
go to this website they have a breed selector there it may help you with your choice.

Terriers have a tendency to be extra territorial and frequently do not rather get alongside good with different puppies, however they're dependable partners, and could even kill rodents when you've got a rat trouble. :) My mother has 2 terriers, the more youthful one may be very pleasant and sociable, the older one is a grumpy ancient guy, and loves to be left on my own, however each are very candy. I listen Standard poodles are beautiful clever, and do not shed. I have no idea so much approximately the cons of proudly owning one regardless that. My grandmother loves poodles, however I do not consider she's ever had a general poodle. I've recognized a few Greyhounds. They appear beautiful shy, however I have no idea if that's always a attribute of the breed or simply the contributors I have recognized. But they appear to be very candy puppies, even though reserved. Since they've brief hair, grooming may not be so much of a trouble. I have no idea so much approximately Collies or Salukis, sorry. But if Collies are whatever like Shelties, they're well puppies. My brothers spouse's grandmother has 2 shelties and he or she used to reproduce them. They're clever and candy puppies, however they've plenty of hair. I might simply study all of the breeds if I have been you. You under no circumstances understand what breed shall be quality for you for definite. If you've got an lively way of life, get a retriever, german shepherd, or in case you desire a smaller breed corgis are well. Smart, convenient to coach and a laugh. If you've got a extra at ease way of life a basset hound possibly well for you. If you propose on youngsters, there are lots of breeds that do very good with kids and can even safeguard them. Akitas, Boxers and Bergamascos. But there are a few breeds that are not fine with youngsters. Terriers would not be one of the crucial puppies I might desire to have round an excessive amount of if I desired a little one, for illustration. Not that they are not able to be well with youngsters, however they have a tendency to be territorial and a brand new little one could freak them out. Also what approximately measurement? What are you able to manage in measurement? Standard poodles are giant, and if no longer educated adequately, possibly a handful on walks. But that may be real of any puppy, you simply desire to be definite he may not drag you. I have no idea your way of life, so rather, you will have to do the study on them, and consider that any individual will have one of the crucial breeds you acknowledged, however no longer all puppies from that breed are like that. It relies relatively somewhat at the character animal too.

A Golden Retriever is the best choice for a family dog great with children, best companion and is the size of a lab or bigger. My parents have been breading them for 16 years and I have been breading for over a year, they are just wonderful companions and all around dogs, very smart as well.
