Someone told me it should be 9 weeks because puppies learn most from their moms during the 9th week. Is this correct or is 8 weeks ok?

when you wean your puppies from their mother, they should be weaned at 8 weeks. if you keep them with mom til 9 weeks, she will keep making milk and won't dry up. so at 8 weeks take them from mom for good. i breed golden retrievers and when i wean my pups they are 8 weeks. i start to wean at 3 weeks on to solids and still nursing on mom and then at 8 weeks they are off her for good. good luck.

8 weeks is ok but that extra week with their litter mates, more than their mother, teaches puppies a lot about behaviour - such as when they bite - how hard is too hard? Puppies teach each other limits. Also, the socialization with the other puppies is invaluable at this age.

It really depends on the breed, some breeds can leave their mom earlier than others. 9 weeks is the earliest though, no dog should be taken from their mother earlier than 9 weeks.

8 weeks should be the EARLIEST. Nine to ten is better, but 8 weeks is OK.

About six weeks is what I was told, but you might want to check that out with a local vet or other people on here.
