I just found out that my application I had worked for months on was considered incomplete because one of my professors turned in his recommendation letter late. He had more than a month to do it and still it was late. He told me not to worry and that he would go in front of the committee if he had to. Guess he thought he had some leverage.... anyway, now my app is dead (until at least fall of 2007) thanks to his irresponsible behavior.
I believe there's a reason for everything. Do you? Maybe there is a reason behind all this that I am unaware of - that only God knows about..... what do you think?

No. Not in that sort of sense. I believe there is a reason or a cause for everything. But not that someone is watching over you and has some sort of plan for you. Things just bounce around in an orderly, predictable, manner. I don't know why thinking this way makes people feel trapped, if it's the truth and you really accept it then it really will set you free.

Yes sister, I believe there is a reason for everything... and it is always a good reason for it (especially if you have faith in God).. I say this because of the numerous times I have been through such situations... Though I feel let down because something doesn't happen the way I wanted or expected it to... But, later something more wonderful happens that makes me go WOW!
So, ummm yes, maybe there is a reson this happened in your case... Just wait .. Inshallah something great will happen... God is All-Knowing.

Yes. There is definitely a reason for everything.

We should always pray that whatever is _better_ for us should happen. We as humans can only look forward to a certain extent. We can never be sure about what is good for us. Secondly, we can never ever avoid sin completely. What does this mean? This obviously implies that in our struggle through life we are dependent on someone who can cater for our deficiencies. No human can forgive our sins, similarly no human can tell us what is better for us the way God can. Thats why we ask ONLY God to do whatever He knows is better for us and we only seek forgiveness from Him, the Lord of the worlds.

Whatever good comes to us is from God and whichever evil befalls us is from our ownselves.

Yes I do! And whatever the reason it brings Glory To God- and turns out for the better in the end....even though things do not seem so well at the time..I always look back and realize it was God who had me- and planned my way and how I could not imagine my life without Him...for His ways are far better than the ways of man.

Proverbs 16:9
The heart of man plans his way,but the LORD establishes his steps.

I do believe there is a reason for everything, sometimes its not easy to accept things that come our way, but somewhere down the line, we will get the answer. And getting angry with the professor,no matter how wrong he is, is not going to help you, So don't waste another minute on it. You sound strong, so get on up and start all over again.

If you trust in God everything will turn out right if not as soon as you would want God probably had a good reason for this and if this is not what He had been planning He can make it turn out for the better

Yes i do, but it is what you do with your time that might lead you to your answer...ie if you sit in your room and cry or be mad then you may never find out. It may be simply that after another year you are more mature and then do better in school, meet the love of your life who knows...live life and accept that stuff happens, even God turns bad things into opportunities....what will you do with this?

Ecclesiastes 3 : 1-8 and verse 17---

VS. 1-- To every thing there is a season, and a time to evry purpose under the heaven;
VS. 2-- A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
VS. 3-- A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
VS. 4-- A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
VS.5-- A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
VS.6-- A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
VS.7-- A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
VS.8-- A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

VS. 17-- I said in my heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked; for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

And yes if verses 1-8 sound familiar, "The Byrds" Sang a song called " TURN TURN TURN " which is taken from this Bible passage, in 1965.

You appear to have been the victim of scandal, however, you cannot be sure that the professors leverage was not considered. Right?

No I don't believe that. There is such a thing as an accident, either through mis-timing, misbehavior, or just plain...accident. A predestined future negates any free will mankind has.
