Have you not noticed from this site, that you can put reason in front of dogmatically religious people and they can't or won't see it.
You are considered an atheist who needs their help to find the true God.
The proof they offer to back up their belief is pages of quoted scripture, as if you had never read the Bible. When in fact, its after reading the Bible and finding out about the dogma you have begun to question.
Its odd how they expect others to fall down on their knees and say" Oh thank you my friend for showing me the way to the truth of God.Now I see the light!"
I don't need anyone's help to find my concept of God.I have done that by my own continued studies.I can not believe in things such as the creation myth and literal virgin birth.Ask for logical answers and you are told, you just have to believe and have faith?????
Sorry but I need logic and proof before I will commit some thing as personal as my belief.
The scriptures that are so readily believed as literal proof were written for and by people who lived in a far different world that the one we have now.Its was originally written for oral deliverance by priests etc to preach to uneducated illiterate folk who had previously put their faith in animism.
In these time belief is a personal journey,or should be.
So if your mate believes in the churches teachings its going to take a lot of "tinnies" to convince him otherwise.
Good Luck!

Well, Darwin and Einstein are not wholly incompatible with religion. So, you may be able to find some sites that allow a religious person to learn a bit more about science that works with religion.
As far as thinking outside of the box, either you do it or you don't. I imagine that you could teach someone to think outside of the box, but those are rare.
I'd suggest subtle questions to raise awareness. Nothing too drastic. And stay away from Darwin! If your friend doesn't know anything about science, then Darwin won't mean much to him. In fact, odds are likely that he may be brainwashed into thinking that anything involving Darwin is devil-worship. So, you'd only be shooting yourself in the foot.
One question to ask is a simple one. I usually discourage people from using this, as it isn't really a good question when you're asking about a god that is outside the realm of the possible. But see if your friend can find the flaw in this question: Can God create a rock heavy enough that he can't lift it? That could get the juices flowing. If he bites that hook, then you can ask him other questions.

If you think you are qualified to do so, then first you show him the box and let him examine it. Then tell him to think out of the box...
Good luck!
Peace be with you.

You can't make someone else think "outside the box." They will remain confined in their box until they decide to be otherwise.
