What sort of level of "growth" should a 7 year old girl be at. I think ours has us ( and her mother) wrapper around her little finger. She's only just started using a fork to eat with (no knife yet) needs help in the bath, can't brush her hair, washing up etc. I remember when I was 7 and things were a lot different.

I think she is just being lazy - her mother doesn't teach her anything - but as her stepmum (access every 2nd weekend and 1 night a week) I don't think its my place... She's calls me bossy boots as it is - i make her wash her hands before dinner, tidy her room and eat with her mouth closed - just the simple simple things... but even they're hard. She's certainly not slow in anyway though. Extremely good at school. Think she's just playing "mum and against dad against me" games...

Actually think you may have hit the nail on the head - She's a spoilt brat. Her mother hounds my husband for money constantly - mind you she gets paid a fortune every fortnight. She won't buy her daughter one stuffed toy, she'll buy 20.Yet, she comes around to us dirty and in tattered clothes... she can be a really sweet kid when she's one on one with me, but once her mum and dad arrive, she turns into a precosious little cow... and treats me like ****
