is there anyway that I can make the cigarette ligher on my 99 jetta stop feeding power to the devices attached to it once my car is shut off¿this would be a huge help, thanks

No easy way. The slightly hard way would be to hook a relay into the feed to it and connect that to the switched power under the dash. It's not an easy thing to describe. Depending on how much power you draw you could also just rewire it to the switched power, but you would have to put a low current fuse in the line too because you don't want to pull too much load from the switched power.

You should ask this question on vwvortex.com in the forums tech section, no end of jetta experts over there.

On the Passat there's two or three always on studs and a switched power stud next to the fuse box, but Jetta folks talk about using an add-a-fuse adapter to pigyback off another source. Sorry I don't know more specifics.

Yes it can be done and the simplest way would be to re route the wiring to fusible link powered by the ignition switch. If you have any mechanical ability it could be dome other wise find a mechanic to do it for you

if you don't want to just unplug your accessories from the cigarette lighter you can wire in a toggle switch to turn the cigarette lighter on and off.
