Mother-in-law that is, whom I'm not very happy with right now. I don't think she deserves anything but I have to get her something. Now I know that sounds mean but I have a very good reason for the way I feel and my fiance feels the same way. I was thinking about getting her a self improvement book. Can you give me some ideas. I would prefer something that she will not like that much.

A muzzle. If you get her something she will not like, she may try to return it for something she actually does.

Buy her McDonald's gift certificates or any other company that does exchange them for cash.

Donate money to a charity in her name.

Buy a poem or statement about mother-in-laws and how they should act and have it framed.

Wow - lots of MIL are not liked! My husband and I were married in August. By May, we (really it was he who no longer wanted anything to do with the evil witch) decided we were not even inviting her to the wedding at all (and wow, has our life been easier w/out her in it!!!). If you plan on keeping her in your life, get her a gift cert to a restaurant, the movie theatre, or clothing store (Kohls). That way, you don't have to put much thought or money into it and you can keep the peace through the wedding. If you don't care about the peace, don't get her anything.

Wow are we in a similar boat....get her a Dr. Phil book. Or make her some homemade fudge with some special ingredients. LOL Make the packaging look great but then when she eats it it could taste like poo or give her the poos!!!

My advice would be, if you can't get her something she WILL like, don't get her anything at all. Have your fiancé pick out a gift, and it will be from both of you. Holidays is not the best time to be vengeful.

Why not make a donation in her name instead--to a charity she wouldn't donate to in a million years?
It would get a point across, for sure!
