Many dogs have special abilities according to their breeds. Border collies like to herd. There are special shows they can enter to herd sheep. Jack Russell Terriers because of their energy level love to run and run. There are special show where they can enter races. The dogs really enjoy themselves. I have a Llasa and have no idea what his breeds special abilities are. I want him to have a happy and satisfying life. Any suggestions?

Your dog doesnt have to have any special purpose as long as he is happy.Llasa's I believe originated in tibet and were used as sounding alarms when people entered the monastaries.I have a shih tzu whom basically did the same thing.
I thought maybe she would like to do agility and took her to a centre. She did the little jumps and A-frames,tubes and teeter totteres.I was very happy. After a while she decided she didnt want to do it anymore.Yes I was dissapointed but she still loves to goto the centre and has so much fun doing what she wants.
Sometimes she'll do the A-frames on her own.
The important thing is to be able to find out what your pooch loves to do.If I mention walk my pooch goes crazy.I know she loves it so we do it alot. She also loves super pet,why i dont know.I guess she takes after me and likes to go shopping.
good luck

They can do great at agility! And flyball, too - if he has an aptitude for them. You may want to ask your vet for reccomendations on local obedience clubs. Find ones that train in agility or flyball, take some basic obedience classes to start (you need the basics to progress further) and then see how he likes it. Dogs vary in temperment, even within the same breed, but I have seen Lhasas compete in agility with wild glee!

Any registered AKC dog can compete in conformation, obedience, rally obedience and agility.
Non AKC events would include flyball and frisbee.
Other events such as lure coursing, hunt trials and dock diving are more breed specific.

Most dogs like agility and it is open to all dogs not just AKC
