I have to agree with vanhammer. Please try the Pain Clinic/Management. The doctors there can give you injections and have other options for you to help reduce the pain. Talk with your doctor to see if he/she can refer you to them since i think most places and insurance require a refferal.

If you are interested in switching jobs, you could try to find one that you are sitting more unless that really is bothersome. If it is, see if there are any in your city that you can switch between sitting and standing during the day. You could also check with your current employer to see if they will let you sit for a short period of time every couple of hours.

I really hope this helps. I do suffer from a back injury myself so I know what you are going thru even though mine is not as severe as yours right now but it eventually may get worse. I have the start of degenerative arthritis and a dry disk that is beginning to bulge in my lower back. I recently had an injection at my local pain clinic to help with the pain.

Sounds like you may need to see a Pain Mgmt Dr if you have been diagnosed with these things. Better than having surgery in my book. My wife and I have both had failed back surgeries and now live in chronic pain every day. We are both disabled now. I hope you get some help before it gets too bad. There are injections that a Pain Dr can give you to try to offer some relief. Thery can also do nerve blocks. Give it a try first. Ask your Ortho Dr to refer you to Pain Mgmt. I wish you well.
