Of course you should be. You will be doing dangerous work.
May God bless you and protect you and bring you back safely. I disagree with what your government is sending you to do at the moment, but I sincerely wish you the best.

some of the best junior non-commissioned officers I have ever met and worked with are marines, when you get to your unit, trust and stick by your team leader, your squad leader, your platoon sergeant and follow their advice. If you have not already graduated from Boot than there is more excuse to actually give everything you got because you know its going to be game time soon. If you already have just believe in your training, listen to what the other veterans say and do because most Marines have done a tour before especially NCOs. Marine boot is in my best option the best hands down training a soldier can receive from the US forces upon initial training, they make it hard for a reason and it is pretty relevant what they teach nowadays in both the army and marine boots.

Dont get too cocky though or this Army Combat Engineer show you the bottom side of my 11EE combat boots. You might not know which way is home or what 1+1 is but you will know how to squeeze the trigger.

I take it you mean you be going to boot camp after you graduate high school? Everyone in here seems to assume you mean you are already enlisted/commisioned and are going to iraq or the ghan. Anyway, if you are going to boot camp remember this: Don't laugh at the drill instructors, you will not do anything right for at least the first 3 weeks, you will learn to eat a full meal in 2 minutes, you will not die, it doesn't hurt, graduation is only __ weeks/days away. About the nervousness, that's %100 normal.

It's natural to be nervous, but don't worry about a thing. Look at it as being more anxious than nervous. You won't be faced with anything you can't overcome, just remember that. Make quick friends out of the other guys there, because you will pull each other through it. Good luck, and I'll see you over here.

Only if you arent sure of what you want in life and dont agree with the war. My brother shipped out for the AF right after highschool and so did my roommate when I stay at the base. They are still in. Its a good experience. It a mind game. Play it. You get plenty of benefits and the discpipline and respect are worth the investment.

If you weren't nervous there would be something wrong with you. Everyone is scared as hell when they first get to training. But you will get used to it, just go with the flow and you'll be fine. The longer you are there, the less stressful it is, you just get used to it. It is after all, a change of lifestyle. But it is so worth it.

If you go to the Gan or you land in Iran, in no time at all you will soon be a man.

With sweat on your balls and your backs to the walls, your lives don't mean squat to the men in the halls.

You know you're a grunt and there ain't no more ****, when you see both your legs not attached to your rump.

If you have any luck you will not care if you can phuck because your chair ridden azz is laden with muck.

I am the Fringe and the American way of life is killing more than it's own.

Pardon me solider and God (mine, not the American one) bless you - kiss your loved ones before you go.

If anyone wants to report me for my limmerick - knock yourself out wad shots.

yea man... good luck, and remember to never give up, and remember keep yourself mentally strong. They are going to do everything they can to break you down, they are going to say things to you that you never had said to you before, let it in one ear and out the other, do not let it get to you. Do what you are told, have a good attitude, and study up on all the stuff the recruiter gave you. Your general orders, especially. Take care and God speed.
