"Novus ordo seculorum" means "a new order of worlds", although the founding father Charles Thompson liberally translated it as "the beginning of a new American Era".

"Annuit coeptis" comes from the Latin words annuo (to nod, approve) and cœpio (to begin, undertake), and literally means someone or something "favours the things which have been begun."

I think Novus ordo secolorum would mean New world order; not sure about the other phrase. They're both Latin.
