It's really not a big deal. You can get these things on the internet or in some pet stores. A pet show had a contest here last year. They handed out five to volunteers to test. It worked for two people. You have to have a cat who is curious about the toilet first. That makes it a lot easier. You also have to take the time to show it to the cat. I think a couple of the people put it in and then just didn't work with the cat.
It is like a small litter box that tucks under your toilet seat. You buy flushable litter and put that in the container. You show your cat the litter box that is in the toilet now and show him he can rake the litter around. If your cat uses it, you can just flush the litter. After they are used to using it for a while, you can take it away and they will be so used to jumping up on the toilet to do their business, they will go without the box.
If you get one and try it, let us know how it works for you. Just keep your other litterbox, just in case.

People can train their cats to use the toilet instead of the litter box. You have to slowly transition the litter box into the bathroom, then next to the toilet, then on top of the toilet, then replace the litter box with a bowl that you lessen the amount of litter in gradually. Then, you take away the bowl when you think they have mastered balancing on the toilet. The Web site below has a much more detailed description.

Hi there...there are two methods one the person above me included the link and the other through toilet training kits such as the Litter Kwitter: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2647927142627159521&q=toilet+training+cat
I have trained both my cats to use the human toilet with my own contraption design using a sitz bath. I have also trained many of my clients cats with the more fancy toilet training contraptions too. It takes an inordinate amount of patience and time as each cat learns at their very own pace. Some cats learn in 3 months whereas others take as long as 18 months.
If you consider doing this please bear in mind it's important to go extremely slow at a cats learning pace in order to avoid soiling accidents in the home, because during the training process you will have to take away the litter box. Toilet training takes many months depending the cat's personality, willingness to learn as well as the proper training techniques used. Therefore it's important that you're ALWAYS home for the first couple months after you remove the litter box during training in order to monitor a cats habits to avoid any accidents. Otherwise you'll teach a cat bad habits that will be difficult to break later even if you go back to the litter box.
